Founding Board Member Bennett Kim

Institutional Investors News named Mr. Kim one of "The 20 Rising Stars of Real Estate" in its Real Estate Finance & Investment magazine in 2006. Mr. Kim is currently a Managing Principal at Big Rock Partners (BRP), a real estate private equity firm that has managed over $800 million of assets. He is responsible for acquisitions, development, asset management and dispositions.

Prior to BRP, Mr. Kim was a Vice President at Apollo Real Estate Advisors, a global private equity firm that has invested over $7 billion of equity. Prior to Apollo, Mr. Kim was an Assistant Vice President at Oaktree Capital Management, where he evaluated and executed investments in the U.S. and Japan for funds then totaling $1.7 billion of equity. Previously, Mr. Kim worked as an Associate at Merrill Lynch Real Estate Investment Banking, a Senior Analyst at Walt Disney Imagineering, and an Analyst at Disney Development Company.

Mr. Kim is on the Board of Directors for the National Multi Housing Council and the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Kim was selected to participate on the UCLA Alumni Association Strategic Planning Committee.

Mr. Kim graduated with an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in Economics from University of California at Los Angeles. He helped found AAAIM to encourage Asian American investment managers to network among themselves and reach out to potential limited partners and pension funds.
