Founding Board Member & Chair Clayton Jue

AAAIM

Clayton C. Jue founded Leading Edge Investment Advisors, LLC (LEIA), a Manager-of-Managers firm. The Manager-of-Managers arena is not a new concept to Clayton. In 1990, Clayton was a co-founder of the first Manager-of-Managers firm to specialize in creating Minority and Emerging programs for institutional investors. This strategy was utilized to allow institutional investors the opportunity to invest in entrepreneurial investment firms. Leading Edge Investment Advisors, LLC was created in 2005 to offer the breadth of Clayton’s knowledge, experience and entrepreneurial spirit to our clients.

As President and Chief Executive Officer of LEIA, Clayton has engaged and supervises a team of highly experienced and valued investment professionals. This allows him the support he needs in key areas to lead this firm to success. Prior firms included, the firm managed over 40 emerging manager programs for over 20 years.

Prior to founding LEIA, Clayton was Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Northern Trust Global Advisors, Inc. where he was directly responsible for managing the $3 billion practice in emerging/minority manager programs. He was also a key member of Northern’s Hedge Fund and Trust Investment Committees which oversaw a total of $25 billion in assets.

Clayton was also a co-founder of Progress Investment Management Company where he spent 11 years as Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer. During his tenure, the firm grew from $45 million to $4.5 billion in assets. Clayton was responsible for the development and management of multiple manager funds in several assets classes including US equity, fixed-income, international equity, private equity and hedge funds. Prior to his work at Progress, Clayton was a Pension and Investment Consultant with Callan Associates Inc.

Clayton received an M.BA degree from the San Francisco State University Graduate School of Business and a double B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a CFA Charterholder since 1991.

Clayton is a founding Board member and current Chair of the Association of Asian American Investment Managers (AAAIM), a national non-profit organization, founded in 2006 committed to elevating and increasing the visibility of Asian American investment professionals to institutional funds.
