California Public Employees' Retirement System Request for Proposal 2010-5646 Investment Diversity Consultant Services


California Public Employees' Retirement System is seeking proposals from qualified diversity consulting firms for the establishment of a Diversity Spring-Fed Pool. Diversity resources would be used, as needed, to provide research on diversity best practices in strategic approaches, development and implementation of structures and processes including organizationally diverse, emerging and/or new investment management and provider firms. To be eligible to submit a bid, a firm must meet or exceed the following mandatory minimum qualifications:
  1. Demonstrated expertise in the area of diversity as it relates to the investment industry/financial markets: (e.g., knowledge of: the effect of state and national demographic trends on financial markets, investments in emerging or other non-traditional managers). Expertise in one or more of these key areas could be demonstrated, for example, through research and publications, track record of relevant investment portfolio management experience, diversity management experience, or other pertinent experience.
  2. Three (3) consecutive years experience with institutional investors. This experience could be demonstrated, for example, through: management and investment-related employment experience with an institutional investor; the provision of consulting/advisory services to institutional investors; other relevant services provided in connection with the institutional investment community; or other pertinent experience.
Proposing firms must also be qualified to do business in California. The Request for Proposal (RFP) 2010-5646 was released on December 12, 2010, with a final filing date of February 8, 2011, 3:00pm, Pacific Standard Time.
